all grounded in scripture.

“It Is Well” Study on Anxiety

Thursdays Nights at 7:00 pm starting September 17th
Zoom or in person in Room 207 Education & Administration Building

This is a 4 week study on anxiety on Thursdays at 7pm beginning September 17th led by Hannah Hedgpeth.  You have the choice to attend in-person at the church (with masks and proper social distancing) or via Zoom.

This study encourages women to go to the Lord with their worries and anxieties, and to rest in His all-sufficient grace. The study walks through Scripture and points to the source of our hope in all of life’s anxieties. We are reminded that God can redeem even our fear, worry, and anxiety for our good and for His glory. This study is designed to point you to God, to help you to know Him more, and to equip you with the Word of God to turn from anxious thoughts and into the Father’s arms. We are praying that it will encourage and comfort you.

Each week contains 5 days of study material, including daily study questions. Each week also has a memory verse day and a weekly reflection day to help dig deeper into Scripture.  The cost is $10 to cover the book.  To register, contact the church office at 830-980-7745 and let us know if you will be attending in person or via Zoom.

Beginning with Wesley and working through the birth of the UMC, an eight-week study of key transitions of the work of the Holy spirit – turning a movement into an institution.  “The purpose of this study is to look at key historical changes within the Methodist movement and see where the Holy Spirit has guided the people called Methodists, and perhaps see where the Holy Spirit is guiding us as we go forward.”  An in person and online study beginning Wednesday, September 23rd in room 207.  Taught by Pastor Ralph.

Tuesday Morning Study Group

Tuesdays,  Starting September 8th at 9:30 AM via Zoom
In Person: Room 201 in Education & Administration Building

We will be “broadcasting” from BUMC.  If you do not have access to Zoom and want to participate in person, you are welcome to come to our room to take part in this study.  We should be able to accommodate 6 to 8 people with social distancing. Everyone will be required to wear a mask.  The room will be sanitized before and after we are there.  Please contact Patti Cutler ( or 210-744-3448) if you want to attend. You must sign up ahead of time if you want to attend in person.

Our first study will be Defiant Joy by Candace Payne.  This study is very timely considering the times we are living in.  You will find it humorous, yet meaningful as we are reminded that our joy does not depend on our circumstances and that joy is a choice we have to make every day.  There will not be a book to buy and read, however there will be insightful homework assignments.

…the JOY of the Lord is your strength.  (Nehemiah 8:10).

From the back cover of the DVD:

Joy is closer than you think because God is better than you may believe!

Using humor, wit, and wisdom, author Candace Payne (aka “Chewbacca Mom”) reveals biblical insights to unshakable joy and freedom in every circumstance.  In this six-session video Bible study, learn what it is to live a life expressed by joy!
